The bad news…
I’ve got good news and bad news for you. We’ll start with the bad news to get that out of the way.
So the bad news is, yes, you do need a headshot. I’m so sorry. I know that’s not what you wanted to hear! Stepping in front of a camera and cheesin’ away is almost nobody’s idea of a good time. Unfortunately, it’s a necessary evil in today’s world.
I know the idea probably repulses you. You’d rather have teeth pulled than have your photo taken, but think about this—what do you do when you are considering working with someone or considering bringing someone in for an interview? You look them up online. You want to try to get a feel for who they are and what they can do for you. You will read through the things they are posting on social media and LinkedIn, but the first thing you see is their profile picture. And that’s when your initial impressions of this person start to form.
Did you know that when you meet someone, you have 7 seconds to make a first impression? That’s not a very long time. Impressions online are even quicker—as little as 50 milliseconds!!! What?!
You need a headshot that is going to get you noticed in a good way in that 50 milliseconds. A headshot that shows whoever is looking at it that you are capable and they can trust you to get the job done. This is important whether you own a business, are an executive, or just starting out in the workforce. A professional headshot is the perfect way to stand out from the crowd and bring business or job interviews your way.

Okay, now that you’ve heard the horrible news and you know the importance of a headshot, let’s talk about the good news! I know it doesn’t seem possible that there could be any good news associated with having a headshot taken, but I promise you there is. Stick with me.
